Cabling a new house DIY way

By JFV / Published on Tue, 2009-06-09 10:55

With domotics getting more popular and slightly more easy for DIY'ers to install, one of the main questions which will always be asked is: "Which are the best practices to cabling your home?"

We know that there is more than one standard and that competing standards have different cable requirements, but general guidelines should be distillable.

What is your viewpoint?
- Star cabling or bus cabling?
- Cat5E, PL or propriety cable?
- Wired or wireless?

For completeness' sake, when giving your opinion on how to approach it, also give the standard you think about and its fitness for DIY installation.
