The paper deals with the general analysis of one part of the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problem - the electromagnetic coupling applied in the field of power electrical systems. Theoretical analysis of above mentioned problem, based on the impact investigation of the electromagnetic wave propagation, is described in part I. Obtained results can be used for predictive stating of EMC quality of individual new electrotechnical products.

This article is a response to a paper presented at the sixth International Workshop on Power Definitions, a report that rejected the fact that the Poynting vector (PV) provides useful information “for academic interpretation of power properties and for practical applications of power theory”. This study explains how the PV reveals the existance of power oscillations unexplained by simple mathematical models used in the basic circuit theory.

This work deals with the flow of the electromagnetic energy through an idealized single-phase transformer supplied with nonsinusoidal voltage and supplying a nonlinear load. The electromagnetic flux components of the energy that flows from primary to secondary as well as the flux of energy stored in and ejected from the dielectric space surrounding the windings are identified and quantified. The electromagnetic flux components are correlated to well known instantaneous powers.

The paper presents possibilities of so-called circuital mathematical models of electric machines, in which the machine is treated as a set of magnetically coupled coils. It is a very popular class of models used for analysis of operational conditions of electric machines. However, the progress in numerical solutions of electromagnetic filed causes the interest of researchers to shift into so-called field-models. This paper shows the author’s opinion on extreme possibilities of circuital models putting main attention to their creation, simplification and solving.
