In the beginning, Kurt was still providing the hot-water supply for the kitchen and the bathroom by two stand-alone electrical boilers. In the meantime he has exchanged the boiler in the bathroom for a second heat pump. ‘It is a small air-to-air heat pump that I installed in the attic,’ explains Kurt. An air-to-air heat pump is basically a reversible air-conditioning unit that cools the surrounding air to heat water.
