Flexible Real Time Power Electronic Solutions for PQ in Future Distribution Networks

Distribution grids that supply electricity consumers today are relatively simple and carry energy from large centralised power stations and the high voltage transmission network to the loads. Significant changes are foreseen where increasing use of small scale distributed generation and energy storage will be embedded in the system with power electronic energy conversion with resulting potential impacts on power quality (PQ). The paper describes how these impacts can be mitigated in various ways by the application of state of the art inverters with flexible high speed controllers.
