The implementation of millions or even hundreds of millions of electric vehicles (EVs) will require a lot of effort on technical and financial aspects, but also on socio-economic aspects.
The main bottleneck for the electric car is the price of the battery system. Today, the price of a total battery system for electric cars can go as high as € 20.000. This should be reduced in order to achieve mass demand. There are also still developments needed in charging time (now: ~6 hr, fast charging 15 minutes) and energy density in order to be able to drive longer distances (now ~200 km.).
