Protermosolar is the Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Industry Association in Spain, created in June 2004. It groups more than 50 associates.
The CSP industry in Spain is growing fast: in 2011, more than 1400 MW will be in operation. This is generating a pole of competitiveness, providing solutions for the power sector worldwide. Electricity generation from concentrated solar thermal power plants is one of alternatives with the highest potential of application and can contribute to the stability and dispatchability of electricity networks. The role of this technology is expected to be very important following Kyoto Protocol and, more recently, the European Directive on renewable energy use for 2020.
Objectives:
* Represent the Spanish branch of the CSP industry at national and international level
* Contribute to governmental initiatives in technology programs
* Support the research, development and innovation of this technology
* Generate a pole of expertise in the planning, design, construction and operation of CSP power plants
* Promote the professional education and training by cooperation with academia
Activities:
* Scientific and Technical Studies and Analysis
* Collaboration with Spanish government, EU institutions and other international institutions to promote this technology
* Spread the knowledge of CSP technology
* Organise meetings, conferences and events
